Day 12 – Bangkok Begins

With a shuttle to the Koh Samui airport to catch, we were up and ready to head out at 7:00am. We met up with our driver from yesterday and headed over to the airport. A very good mocha and an uneventful flight later, and we touched down in Bangkok. We get in another shuttle before arriving at our hotel, The Riva Surya.

The place looked amazing and the staff were very nice. We managed to get checked in early and hang out in the room for a bit. After a little while, I went out to a game store west of our place. Bangkok is both massive and difficult to navigate, so the easiest way of getting around is just using your phone to get a taxi. After catching a ride in one, I arrive at the store and shop around for a bit. Meanwhile, my dad was checking out some of the alleyways and small roads around our place to see what the vendors were selling. After a little while, I head back to the hotel but get caught in some of the craziest teaffic I’ve seen. Even the motorcycles weaving between the cars had a traffic jam.

After a while, my dad and I met back up and went out for drinks at the rooftop patio bar next door to the hotel. I got a fancy blue cocktail, and we went over our plans for the remainder of our time in Bangkok. We decided to visit Chinatown for dinner, so after taking a taxi over there, we started browsing the numerous street food vendors.

Colourful lights, countless different aromas, strange foods, and crowded sidewalks, it was more or less what you would picture when you think of Chinatown in Bangkok. We stopped at several different carts to geab food, including duck with noodlss, crispy pork belly, grilled jellyfish, ube coconut milk with potato sweet dunplings in it, and pork dumplings. After a lot of wandering and eating, we knce again call a taxi to get back to our hotel.
